Stephen Amell (born May 8, 1981) is a Canadian actor. He is best known as the titular star of the CW's hit superhero series, Arrow, which began airing in 2012. He appeared in two episodes of New Girl season one as Kyle, Cece's jerk boyfriend.
Amell got his start as an actor in his hometown, Toronto, and landed a role on American LGBT-oriented soap opera, Dante's Cove, in 2007. He later appeared on the U.S. remake of Queer as Folk, and won a Gemini Award (the Canadian Emmy) for his guest starring role on Canadian sci-fi series ReGenesis.
He has also appeared on Canadian television programs Da Kink in My Hair and Heartland, and appeared as werewolf Brady during season two of the CW's hit The Vampire Diaries.
He followed up with a role as controversial killer Joran van der Sloot in the Lifetime Channel film Justice for Natalee Holloway in May 2011, and TV guests spots on Hung, 90210, and Private Practice before landing the role of Oliver Queen, the vigilante playboy superhero, in Arrow.
He'll next appear as Wynn Delaney in a film adaptation of Janette Oke's beloved Canadian West series of novels, When Calls the Heart, set to air on the Hallmark Channel in 2013.
His cousin is actor Robbie Amell; he welcomed daughter Mavi Alexandra Jean with his wife, actress Cassandra Jean, in 2013.
